Due to the current outbreak of coronavirus (now has an official name: “COVID-19”),
St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Bateman Parish is taking a precautionary step
to prevent any risk from this infectious virus. Therefore, as from this weekend the
Precious Blood of Christ will not be administered from the chalice to the congregation until further notice. Please be advised that only four (4) Extraordinary Ministers
of Holy Communion are required to assist in the distribution of Holy Communion.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
It may be helpful to note that “Christ Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, is wholly present
under the appearance either of bread or of wine in the Eucharist. Furthermore,
Christ is wholly present in any fragment of the consecrated Host or in any drop of
the Precious Blood”. (cf. Eucharisticum Mysterium, no. 32).
“Our Catholic faith teaches that Christ, whole and entire, and the true Sacrament, is
received even under only one species…” (General Instruction to the Roman Missal,
n.282)
