This year marks the 5th World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, a time to honour the vital role of older generations in our families, parishes, and communities. The theme chosen by Pope Leo XIV for this Jubilee Year is: “Blessed are those who have not lost hope” (Sir 14:2), reminding us that hope can flourish at every stage of life. Our elders, like Abraham, Sarah, and Moses, are living witnesses of God’s faithfulness—many quietly carrying the wisdom of faith, the endurance of love, and the strength of hope. Let’s give thanks for their presence in our lives and to reach out to those who may feel forgotten or alone. May they continue to inspire us with their love, prayer, and perseverance in faith.
