WEDNESDAY FAITH PROGRAM – 26TH AUGUST
In the next session on Wed, 26 Aug, we begin a new video series entitled Conversion – Following the Call of Christ. Presenter Bishop Robert Barron, founder of Word on Fire, a global media ministry, delves deeply into six Biblical stories of true conversion. They were people just like you and me who were met by Christ where they were and called to a better life through him – Bartimaeus, the man born blind; the rich young man; Matthew, the tax collector; Jonah; the woman at the well and the Magi.
In the hands of the dynamic Bishop Barron, these familiar stories become inspirational journeys of humility and courage, the call of Christ, change and trust. For instance, Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52) begs in humility: “Son of David, Jesus, have pity on me” and persisted despite being scolded and told to keep quiet. When he is called by Jesus, he throws off his cloak (old way of life) and jumps up – to be converted brings lightness of soul. And Jesus’ parting words to him affirms us: “Go, your faith has saved you.”
So come and be inspired to Conversion. The videos will be shown over three sessions in the Parish meeting room from 10am-11.30am on:
- Wed 26 Aug: Bartimaeus; The Rich Young Man
- Wed 9 Sept: The Calling of Matthew; Jonah
- Wed 23 Sept: The Woman at the well; Journey of the Magi
All are welcome. Bring a mug if you wish to make a cuppa for yourself. There will be a short reflection and sharing between the two stories in each session.
